Orange Shirt Day Order Form
Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the individual, family and community intergenerational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”. The orange shirt symbolizes the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations. It grew out of Phyllis Webstad's story of having her shiny new orange shirt taken away on her first day of school at the St. Joseph Mission residential school. It has become an opportunity to keep the discussion on all aspects of residential schools happening annually.
Our school division and our Father Henri Voisin school community will recognize Orange Shirt Day on Thursday, September 29, 2022. If you would like to purchase an Orange shirt for your child or for yourself, please click on the link below and complete the digital order form. Following your completion of the order form, please bring your payment to Father Henri Voisin School. Please note that payments can only be made at the school office using Cash, debit or credit card, no cheques can be accepted. Orders are due by noon on September 19, and students will receive their orders the week of September 26.
The cost of the t-shirt is $14.00 (youth or adult sizes). One dollar from every shirt purchased will go towards an Indigenous Education Services Student Scholarship.
